We catch what slips.

Apps, sale emails and contracts, read twice before they reach you.

Try catching one yourself

Owners don't lose money on ugly work. They lose it on small mistakes nobody saw.

  1. The Black Friday email goes out with a dead button.
  2. The supplier contract says 30 days in English and 60 dae in Afrikaans.
  3. Four hundred products go live with last month's price.
  4. The checkout looks fine on a laptop and hides the Pay button on an iPhone SE.

Your turn.

Six clauses from a supply agreement, in English and Afrikaans.

Four of them don't say the same thing in both languages. Tap the word that's wrong. You don't need Afrikaans for most of them.

3.1

The Buyer shall place orders in writing.

Die Koper sal bestellings skriftelik plaas.

4.1

The minimum order value is R25 000 (twenty thousand rand) per month.

Die minimum bestelwaarde is R25 000 (vyf-en-twintigduisend rand) per maand.

4.1 The English figure says R25 000. Its words say twenty thousand. The Afrikaans agrees with itself. We ask which amount you meant.

4.2

Payment is due within 30 days of the invoice date.

Betaling is verskuldig binne 60 dae na faktuurdatum.

4.2 30 days in English, 60 dae in Afrikaans. Which one do you get paid by?

6.1

Risk in the Goods passes to the Buyer on delivery.

Risiko in die Goedere gaan by lewering oor na die Koper.

6.2

The Buyer shall pay for transport insurance.

Die Verskaffer moet vir vervoerversekering betaal.

6.2 English: the Buyer pays the insurance. Afrikaans: die Verskaffer, the Supplier, pays.

10.1

The Buyer may not assign this Agreement without the Supplier's written consent.

Die Koper mag hierdie Ooreenkoms sonder die Verskaffer se skriftelike toestemming oordra.

10.1 English says may not. The Afrikaans has no nie, so it says the Buyer may.
